For Grandmother Mariam, the last few years have been difficult and probably even painful. She has been limited to sitting on the ground or a mat, watching the world walk by and do all those things she used to be able to do. Yet, she maintained a positive spirit and a smile. Without meeting her, I think I could say she had hope and faith for a better day.
For several months, we have had a dream and a goal of bringing a wheelchair to Mariam so she could be outside and enjoy a new sense of mobility. Through a wheelchair, her caretakers could take rest more often, and Mariam could seek more freedom. We were so pleased to finally reach our goal! Mariam received her wheelchair and beamed with a smile as she learned how to use it. She has received the gift of mobility! We thank all of our donors who have made this dream possible. While it may not be use of her legs, she has wheels and she can get out and enjoy God's creation without being limited to a mat. She may now see those things she hasn't been able to see for a few years now. Perhaps she now can take part in festivities and be around more people who love her so very much.
